Our History
Yale Avenue Christian (Disciples of Christ) was organized on January 16, 1955, with the support of the Christian Churches of the Tulsa area to serve the growing needs of Southeast Tulsa. The congregation met for worship at Eisenhower Elementary School until the first unit of the existing building was completed in 1957. Rapid growth required the building of a second unit within five years. A major remodeling project of the sanctuary and narthex was completed in 1982. The Family Life Center, new entrance and foyer were completed in 2001 to help with our growing congregation. The current church building stands as a tribute to the faith and ministries of this family both past and present.
From the beginning, worship has been at the heart of congregation life. The church finds its oneness in Christ as we gather around the Lord’s Table for communion every Sunday. There we find renewed faith and strength to go out into the world caring, sharing, and serving in the name of Jesus. Yale Avenue Christian Church celebrated its 60th Anniversary in January 2015.
Our Values
“We are Disciples of Christ, a movement of wholeness in a fragmented world. As part of the one body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord’s table, as God has welcomed us.”
